A good university offers opportunities to students, faculty, and the community, but a great university does far more than that. A great university such as UNLV is also a source of ideas and solutions, a creator of hope, a builder of the new and the better, and a molder of character and aspiration. At UNLV, the Annual Fund plays a central role in this important work. The Annual Fund is made up of thousands of individual unrestricted gifts that are used as "venture capital" to support UNLV's primary missions of teaching, research, and service. These funds are raised through membership in three leadership gift societies: President's Associates, President's Inner Circle, and the Academic Corporate Council and through the annual Rebel Ring Phonathon. Annual Fund gifts are among the most important and valuable to UNLV because they can be used where the need is greatest - to meet unexpected challenges, take advantage of unusual opportunities, support administrative costs related to raising private funds, and meet the many day-to-day challenges of modern higher education. Gifts to the Annual Fund help to recruit top faculty, create programs, and provide the tools for serious educational work. The Annual Fund supports scholarship programs and internship opportunities, and it enhances the intellectual life of the campus by underwriting lectures, presentations, forums, and concerts. When no other financial alternatives are available, the Annual Fund is there to provide support.
