Donation Helps Dental Students Prepare For Exam Preparation is essential for the regional board exam required for dental professionals. UNLV School of Dental Medicine students will now be better prepared thanks to a donation from Dr. Tony Guillen, member of the Nevada State Board of Dental Examiners. The donation has also eased some of the schools budgetary constraints while pushing students toward success. Woodall said that a contribution such as this increases students’ early display of proficiency in dental medicine, which results in greater confidence and involvement from the community with the SDM, current students, and alumni. “The donation benefits the school in that students will be able to practice without extra cost,” said Dr. Rick Thiriot, assistant professor of clinical sciences. “A great thank you should be given to Dr. Guillen for his kindness.” Woodall added that because of donations like the one made by Dr. Guillen, the School of Dental Medicine’s mission of moving “toward better health through oral health” is one step closer to reality. “We continue to strive for excellence in our graduates, both in practice and in public health,” said Woodall.
