Scholarship Supports Political Science Students For Mike Rumbolz, ’76, the desire to give back to UNLV came from his own experience. He graduated with distinction from UNLV and is now the managing director for Acme Gaming. Along with his wife Geri, Rumbolz set up a scholarship for political science students to assist in providing support for their last two years at UNLV. “I wanted to encourage students who grew up in Las Vegas, as I had, to choose UNLV's political science department for their university education and be able to devote full time to their studies in their junior and senior years,” Rumbolz says. “I set up the scholarship out of a desire to give back some of what has been given to me as the result of a college education.” Eligible students must have graduated from a Nevada high school and be enrolled full time as a junior or senior in the political science program with a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25. Political science student Howard Watts III received the scholarship in 2008 and 2009. “We’re very grateful to the Rumbolz family for their generous donation to the department and the university. The scholarship will help students attain their educational and professional goals at UNLV,” says John Tuman, associate professor and chair for UNLV’s political science department.
